They seem to be used to all sorts of things in Offenbach. Is that due to the many students at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, who repeatedly fill the cityscape with activities? In any case, the wildly dancing group, passing by the corner of Berliner Straße and Schloßstraße shortly after 10 p.m. with their loudspeaker and a huge pink teddy bear named Edward, met two mildly smiling patrol officers. Right next door on the terrace, where lahmacun is served, people only look up from their plates with friendly irritation. It’s not just the very youngest who shake their hips. A strange picture, this group of very young people, many middle-aged people and a few old people dancing along the wide sidewalk.
But that was the goal of the evening: to show people over 17 what it’s like to be young in Offenbach. The promise that Sadegh, 16 years old, shouted confidently through the megaphone at the beginning of the event even said: Everyone should be teenagers again for one evening. Balancing on the little wall, running slalom around bollards. Play “don’t touch the ground”, find a companion for the evening and cause a lot of commotion on the sidewalk. Just like larger groups of young people do when they go out through the city in the evening.
