An exhibition at the start of 2016
Artistic photography has been in his genes for a long time, but New York’s passion was sparked in 2016. Jean-Marc Arthot surreptitiously learns that a nautical race, organized by Imoca and Open Sports Management, will link New York to Les Sables- d’Olonne.
Neither one nor two, he went to New York before the start and, thanks to the French Consulate and the event organization of the race, he obtained the right to present his works as part of a small exhibition.
Since then, he has never ceased to develop his activity through exhibitions in Vendée and in the West of France. Vendée, Nantes, Pays-de-la-Loire, Brittany are its playgrounds.
Intact passion and new projects
Since then, eight years have passed. But his passion is still intact.
Jean-Marc Arthot, for example, applied for an artist residency* in New York, a request that was supported by two Vendée communities and a bank.

He also plans, with the approach of the new start of the New York / Vendée Les Sables-d’Olonne which will take place on May 29, 2024, to finalize a project linked to this race, especially since it is gaining momentum. scale:

The project fascinates him so much that he would like to expand it because he has always been convinced, he says, that this nautical race would be an opportunity to promote the Vendée and Les Sables-d’Olonne economically in New York, gateway to entry to the United States.
He emphasizes that there are friendship or professional ties between the Vendée and the United States, but often unrecognized, which he hopes to deepen knowledge of through the publication of this article.

His project, “At the crossroads of dreams” has 2 essential components:
– after the realization of a certain number of artistic photos on the Vendée, he plans new creations in order to bring the total of the achievements to 85 paintings (… we can guess the reason for the choice of this number …) representing municipalities or sites Vendeans;
– the production of 50 portraits accompanied by texts including:
* 25 portraits of Americans living in Vendée;
* 25 portraits of Vendeans established in New York or in the rest of the United States.

Development and repercussions
Beyond these two artistic projects, he wishes to rely on the dynamics of the race to create economic, cultural and educational links – which could be launched at the initiative of the Vendée communities themselves – for exhibitions, educational transfers to schools etc… in order to maintain a permanent and constructive flame between Vendée and New York.

Jean-Marc Arthot has now decided to highlight his achievements even more.
As any project requires funding, he now rents premises located on the Remblai in order to promote the sale of his works to the general public (photos, maps, paintings), as well as directly to companies (paintings, frescoes, etc.) .
