The Ministers of Culture of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and Ukraine signed a declaration on Sunday, with the countries of the region pledging to help Ukraine preserve its cultural heritage and restore it during the war.

The declaration expressed support for the preservation of Ukraine’s intangible cultural heritage, including in exiled Ukrainian communities. Intangible cultural heritage is an essential part of Ukrainian identity and plays an important role in the life, further development and sustainability of society and individuals, the document emphasizes.

The document was created to once again emphasize the importance of continuing to support initiatives for the preservation and protection of Ukrainian cultural heritage for future generations in the context of the war started by Russia in Ukraine, using both national and European, international program and instrument funding.
