The Football Association officially announced that it had officially signed a contract with Portuguese Paulo Bento as coach of the first national team, to succeed Argentine coach Aruabarrena.
The Secretary-General of the Football Association, Muhammad Hazam Al Dhaheri, revealed during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Football Association in Dubai today, Sunday, that the contract with coach Pinto is for a period of 3 years until 2026, in order to ensure a kind of stability with the national team, especially that coach Pinto will lead the team during the Asian Cup finals scheduled in Qatar. Next January, Al-Abyad will play in Group C alongside Iran, Hong Kong and Palestine, and will lead the national team during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
For his part, Portuguese coach Bento expressed his thanks for the confidence of the Football Association to take over the leadership of the national team
The coach revealed that he has great ambitions with the national team to work towards achieving them, most notably qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, stressing that he realizes that this goal is not easy, but he will do his best to achieve it in addition to working to build a strong team.
Bento pointed out that it is not important for him the age of the players, but rather their performance and quality and the extent of their behavior and discipline.
Coach Pinto confirmed that he will officially start his mission to lead the national team during an external camp in Austria during the period from the 29th of this month until the 10th of next August, with the aim of getting to know the players closely.
