The Ministry of Health stated that there is a “strange link” between sleep and heart health, as lack of sleep negatively affects the heart and leads to high blood pressure.
And Makkah Al-Mukarramah Health stated, in a post it posted on its account on the social networking site “Twitter”, that “lack of sleep for long periods leads to an increase in heart rate and high blood pressure, as well as an increase in some chemicals associated with inflammation, and lead to multiple heart problems.”
The “Live Healthy” account of the Ministry of Health, via Twitter, had previously stated that mood disorders are among the damages resulting from lack of sleep.
The ministry added, “The damage resulting from lack of sleep includes: weight gain, high blood pressure, the possibility of diabetes (type 2), and mood disorders.”
