The great event of Latvia – the Festival of Songs and Dances – is coming to an end with another grandiose concert. I have finally found the time to watch the opening concert on tape.

Neema arrives, and I again show Aminat, her distant half-sister (because the father is African, and all black Africans are brothers and sisters), who catches the soul with “Two-doo”. Nema’s gaze catches Aminata’s background. “What are these?” she points to the singers’ crowns. “Latvian crowns,” I answer. And can you buy them in Latvia? Of course. Great, Nema needs one. Oh, and also fabric as a folk costume skirt. Well, it remains to be chosen, each “tribe” has its own colors.
Cultural exchange. If dresses made of Tanzanian kitenge fabric have already traveled to Latvia, then why can’t a black princess dressed in Vidzeme brunches suddenly appear in this part of the world? Um, does anyone know where to buy Latvian krona at a reasonable price?
