Washing meat leads to infection with salmonella

Dr. Nahla Abdel-Wahhab, a clinical nutrition consultant and head of the Department of Bacteria and Immunology at Cairo University Hospitals, said that washing meat immediately after slaughter is unhealthy at all, because it leads to the retention of bacteria that cause germs harmful to the body.

Abdel-Wahhab added that washing meat leads to infection with salmonella, so she directed that the best way to cook meat is to place it in a pot filled with boiling water over a good heat over a high heat, with the addition of well-known spices and bay leaf.

And she advised not to cook the meat directly after slaughtering, as it is preferable that it remain in the freezer for a period of no less than 24 hours before cooking, to get rid of bacteria and germs.
