Austin Theory retained the United States Championship after defeating Sheamus during broadcasts Friday Night SmackDown. Pretty Deadly entered to put the fight in favor of the current monarch.
Three weeks ago, WWE gave Sheamus a shot after They was brogue kicked by The Celtic Warrior during a promo between the two wrestlers. A week later, the champion retained the title from him thanks to a Pretty Deadly meddling on his behalf to distract the challenger.
In the final moments, and in a scene copied from the last time, Pretty Deadly entered to help Theory and Sheamus was interrupted. Ridge Holland and Butch arrived to save him but Sheamus ended up giving Elton Prince a Brogue Kick and received a Roll-Up from Theory.
Theory adds his ninth starting defense since taking gold 223 days ago. The heel defeated Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins in a triple threat match at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2022 to be crowned United States Champion for the second time in his career. Since then, he has defended the title against the likes of Lashley, Rollins, Edge, and John Cena.
