He pointed out that inhaled gases may cause general poisoning of the body, “including difficulty breathing,” because they are toxic to body cells, “like cyanide,” and because they replace oxygen in the blood and limit the amount of oxygen that reaches tissues, “like methane or carbon monoxide.” .
