Multiple Arrests Made in Fatal Shooting at Fourth of July Party in Fort Worth’s Como Neighborhood

Two men have been arrested and are facing murder charges in connection with a mass shooting that occurred in Fort Worth’s Como neighborhood on Monday night. The shooting took place just before midnight, following ComoFest, an annual Fourth of July party in the area.

During the incident, someone opened fire into the crowd of hundreds, resulting in eight injuries and three fatalities. Fort Worth Police records indicate that 19-year-old Brandon Williams and 20-year-old Christopher Redic have been arrested and charged with murder.

Redic was booked into the city jail shortly before noon on Friday, followed by Williams an hour later. It is currently unclear if either of the men has obtained legal representation.

Fort Worth Chief of Police Neil Noakes stated during a news conference on Friday that there was an altercation prior to the shooting. Investigators believe that the violence may have been gang-related. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

Chief Noakes also mentioned that the annual event has been taking place for decades and that city leaders will be working to implement changes to ensure its safety in the future. This includes limiting any street parties after the event has concluded.

In remembrance of the victims, community members and leaders are planning to hold a candlelight vigil on Friday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The vigil will be held outside the downtown old courthouse at 100 E. Weatherford Street.
