The Rabat Declaration: Advancing African Parliamentary Cooperation in the Face of Challenges

The Conference on “African Parliamentary Cooperation in the Context of Current Challenges” on Friday adopted the “Rabat Declaration” which proposed the creation of the Forum of Chairpersons of Foreign Affairs Committees of African Parliaments. This forum, whose General Secretariat and chairmanship will be provided by Morocco, will meet annually to discuss issues of common interest and achieve sustainable development in Africa.

According to Nadia Bouaida, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the House of Representatives, this forum will be a support mechanism for African parliamentary diplomacy, coordinating efforts to face the multiple challenges of the continent and guarantee the sustainability of parliamentary dynamics.

The conference brought together the chairpersons of foreign affairs committees of African parliaments, parliamentarians, experts and researchers, who discussed three main topics related to peace and security, food security and the role of foreign affairs committees. in common African cooperation.

The organization of this conference is part of parliamentary diplomacy and the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to strengthen cooperation and solidarity in Africa.
