The meteor shower in Arad and Masada – Jewish Traveler and send us to peace

Arad Tourism and Sde Susia School invite us to come watch this year’s spectacular natural phenomenon – the meteor shower is going to be amazing. The meteor shower, “The Perseids”, is a strong meteor shower that takes place between July 17 and August 24, when the Earth passes and passes through the dust trail left by Comet Swift-Tuttle.

The rain can be seen from the middle of July, and its peak between August 9 and 14. During the peak of the Perseid shower, more than 60 meteors can be seen per hour.

In preparation for this spectacular natural phenomenon, the Arad Tourism Department and the Sde Sousia School have joined forces and will hold a meteor observation event on Thursday, August 10, 2023 in two locations: the Eastern Hills Complex (near the city of Arad) and the Enov Mountain Complex (near the Masada National Site).

The event is intended for the whole family and anyone interested in watching the meteor shower in the heart of the desert, when the city lights do not interfere and everything happens under the sky. In addition to observations of the meteor shower, telescopes, hot drinks and instruction on the stars and the meteor shower (the Perseids) will await the attendees of the event.

The director of the Arad Tourism Department, Eli Shashua, says: “Last year it was not really possible to watch the meteor shower when the moon was full. This year the compensation will come in a big way. We invite everyone to come to us in the desert, sit under the stars and watch the shower with us in two designated complexes in the eastern hills The proximity to the city of Arad and Mount Enov, which is adjacent to the Masada site. An unforgettable experience is expected and everyone is invited to come.”
