On July 7, 2023, the general assembly of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences passed the relevant resolutions that will enable the state of Salzburg to participate from autumn. As of September 1st, the state of Salzburg, the social partners, the Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Labor are each equal partners in the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. With regard to a possible participation in the sponsorship, the state of Salzburg was already involved in the comprehensive reorganization process of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, in which the university prepared itself for the challenges of the future.

“With the state of Salzburg as the third sponsor, the university of applied sciences will be further strengthened. The FH thus makes an important contribution to the training of specialists at university level and practice-oriented scientists for business and society in our state”, emphasize the representatives of the social partners, AK director Mag.a Cornelia Schmidjell and WKS-Director Manfred Pammer.

State of Salzburg central partner from the start

The state of Salzburg was a key partner right from the start of the university of applied sciences in 1995, playing a key role in the development of the university of applied sciences, which is now one of the most important educational institutions in the state. This long-standing financial and non-material support now leads to the next logical step – the participation of the state in the FH.

“With its wide range of courses and further training courses, the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences has earned an excellent reputation far beyond the state borders and is today an indispensable pillar of the Salzburg university location. The great interest of many companies in the graduates also underlines how much the practical and research-oriented know-how of the university of applied sciences is valued. With the participation as a new shareholder, the state will proactively draw on the success story of this promising educational institution in the future,” says Governor Dr. Wilfried Haslauer.

FH Managing Director FH-Prof. dr Dominic Engel: “We welcome the entry of the state as another strong pillar of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. It is a clear commitment to the importance of practical higher education and applied research.”

The Salzburg University of Applied Sciences – a success story
The Salzburg University of Applied Sciences started in 1995 in Techno-Z Itzling and in Kuchl with two courses, with not even 100 students and has developed into an efficient and indispensable educational institution with 3,200 students, 6 departments, 30 courses and more than 400 employees in teaching, research and management developed. This means that the FH is already one of the most important “skilled workers” and scientific training centers in the state: to date, around 13,000 graduates have successfully completed their training at the FH Salzburg.
