Pop star Britney Spears revealed, Thursday, that she was slapped in Las Vegas by a member of the security team of promising French basketball player in the NBA, Victor Wimpanyama, which prompted her to file a complaint about the incident. The singer explained on her account via the “Instagram” network that she saw on Wednesday evening, at the entrance to a hotel restaurant, the French player who is currently in Nevada to play his first match with the San Antonio Spurs.
The singer added, “I decided to talk to him and congratulate him on his success. Because of the intensity of the noise, I tapped his shoulder to get his attention (…) and one of his security forces slapped me without looking back.”
She pointed out that the slap almost knocked her to the ground and led to the removal of her glasses from her face.
TMZ, which reported the news, reported that Britney Spears had filed a complaint after the incident.
In response to a question by Agence France-Presse, the Los Angeles police confirmed that they had opened an investigation on Wednesday evening related to “beatings and injuries”, without disclosing the name of the victim. “No arrest warrants or summonses have been issued, and no further details will be given at this time,” she said.
After his training session on Thursday, Victor Wimpanyama confirmed the incident, explaining that he did not know that Spurs were involved until later.
The 19-year-old French player recounted, “A person started calling me (sir, sir), and then grabbed me from my back, not from my shoulder. I felt that security removed this person, but I do not know with what degree of force.”
He added, “I did not look, but continued walking in order to go to dinner and spend an evening,” noting that the San Antonio Spurs security service gave him instructions, in which he asked him not to stop in order to avoid “causing a crowd.”
And Britney Spears wrote on “Instagram”: “People are constantly chasing me (…) but my security team did not hit any of them,” reiterating that all she did was patted him on the shoulder.
And Spears noted that “physical violence is very common among” celebrities, calling on them to “set an example and treat everyone with respect.”
And she stated that she had not yet received a “public apology from the player or his security team” or from his club, “hoping that they would take the initiative to do so.”
Victor Wimpanyama is considered the most promising talent in basketball in the world since LeBron James, and he received a star reception in Texas last June.
As for Spears, the attention of the media in recent years has focused on her personal and psychological problems and the guardianship that was imposed on her for 13 years and her father took over her until the end of 2021, according to which he interfered in all her decisions and aspects of her life, even the intimate ones.
