PT Vale Indonesia Tbk Divests 14% Shares to Continue Operations in Indonesia: Minister Arifin Tasrif Updates

PT Vale Indonesia Tbk will divest 14% shares to continue operations in Indonesia. This figure is greater than the provision that must be released, namely 11%.

This was conveyed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif at his office, Central Jakarta, Friday (7/7/2023).

“The last percentage is 11 plus 3, so with 14 (%), the MIND ID composition will be bigger. That’s all for now,” he said.

Arifin explained, divestment Vale currently under discussion. “In process,” he said.

Arifin said that Vale had not announced the price of the shares to be divested. However, he hoped that Vale would be more flexible.

“Which basic first agreed and then later… The point is that Vale wants to be more flexible about prices. We hope this is the case,” he said.

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the government would make a decision regarding the divestment of shares of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk this month. Jokowi stated that national interests must take precedence in relation to the divestment.

“God willing, we will make a decision this month. The point is that national interests must come first,” Jokowi said at Halim Perdana Kusuma Airstrip, Monday (3/7).

In line with that, Jokowi said, the government also did not want to harm investors. Then, he emphasized that industrialization and downstreaming must go on.
