Washington DC: 20 people were killed and 126 injured in shootings in various parts of the United States during the Independence Day weekend. The whole country was lined up for various celebrations. In the meantime, many incidents of violence took place.
Most of the shootings took place in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, and Fort Worth, Texas. Several children were among the injured, including a 15-year-old boy. Bill Ferguson, president of the Maryland State Senate, said shootings are the number one issue facing them now and the time has come to curb such mass shootings.
People owning guns and using them to settle disputes increases the number of shootings. The current situation indicates an increase in mass violence. Former US Department of Homeland Security Acting Under Secretary John Cohen said such shootings are often the result of disputes or disagreements with others.
Five dead in Philadelphia shooting

A woman and three men were hospitalized with injuries.

Five people were injured in a shooting in Boston early Wednesday morning, police said. The shooting happened around 2 am in the Mattappan area of Boston. Police arrested two men and a woman on charges related to the shooting. The names of the suspects have not been released.

A group of gunmen opened fire at a celebration in Shreveport, Louisiana. Councilor Tabatha Taylor said the shooting also happened at a birthday party in Shreveport on Tuesday night. The names of those killed have not been released.

Ten people were injured in a shooting inside a Kansas nightclub early Sunday morning. Some were injured while trying to get out of the room. Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan announced that the nightclub where the shooting took place has been closed for 30 days.
