Delhi High Court Issues Notice Against Karma News for Spreading False Propaganda Against Media Houses at Cutting South 2023

Delhi High Court issues notice against Malayalam online channel Karma News for spreading false propaganda against media houses. The court has issued the notice in a defamation case filed by news portal News Laundry and another news organization. The case against Karma News is for spreading false propaganda against the media event held in Kochi in March called Cutting South 2023. The defamation case has been filed by News Laundry and Confluence Media Online Ventures Private Limited. Apart from the mandatory injunction, the plaintiffs have also sought an apology from Karma News and Rs 2 crore as compensation. Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri issued the notice. An explanation has also been asked within 30 days. The case will be heard in August. A lawyer for Karma News said that no comments, videos or articles related to the case will be published until the hearing. On March 25, News Laundry and Confluence Media along with News Minute organized a media event called Cutting South 2023 at Kerala Media Academy, Kochi. It is alleged that Karma News has spread widespread propaganda against this program. Karma News articles and videos were circulated accusing it of misinterpreting the name Cutting South and making a communal attempt to divide the country into South and North India. Karma News reported that the organizers of the media festival had links with separatists and anti-national forces. A case of defamation has been filed against Karma for trying to insult him by making this kind of propaganda.
