“LTG Cargo” has announced an international procurement procedure for the purchase of locomotives and technical support, as well as the supply of spare parts for at least three years, the company informed.

The exact number of locomotives will be determined in negotiations with suppliers, and the contract will provide for the purchase of more locomotives in the future.

The locomotives must be able to pull a wagon train of up to 5,700 tons.

In June, “LTG Cargo” announced that it is considering the purchase of electric locomotives, while Lithuanian Minister of Transport Marjus Skuodis confirmed that the ministry has already authorized the purchase of locomotives.

Lietuvos geležinkeliai’s passenger transport company “LTG Link” announced at the end of June that it will purchase 15 new electric trains and battery trains from the Swiss rolling stock manufacturer “Stadler Rail” Polish subsidiary “Stadler Polska” for the total amount of 226.5 million euros.
