There has been speculation about a new console from Nintendo for a really long time. A few years ago there was talk of a Pro version, which was probably actually being created, but in the end we never got to see it and only an OLED model was released without an increase in performance. However, now, more than 6 years after the release of the original console, it is certain that the arrival of the successor cannot be far away.
A few days ago a trusted insider came forward Nash Weedlewhich even before the announcement informed for example, about the game Metroid Dread, with the news that the devkit of the new Switch has arrived at a certain Spanish studio. And although it is not certain, it is most likely MercurySteam, the authors of the already mentioned Metroid Dread, who are currently working on a 3rd person RPG codenamed Project Iron. But it is quite possible that this is not their only project and that they are also working on a new game for Nintendo, with which they have already tried cooperation several times.

It’s interesting, that according to Nikki next gen is supposed to only be an option for gamers who want more performance, but the Switch will still be supported and games will be released. Can we expect a similar long cross-gen period to PS4/PS5 and XONE/XSX|S? It is quite possible. However, we have to wait until the announcement actually happens.
