After conflicting information, the Israeli army spokesman confirmed that a missile was fired from Lebanese territory, which exploded near the border inside Israeli territory. In response, he indicated that the Israeli army attacked the launch area inside Lebanon.

Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent said that an Israeli bombardment targeted the vicinity of Kafr Shuba in southern Lebanon with more than 20 shells.

It also made it clear that Israel did not issue instructions to the northern settlements after the border events with Lebanon.

For its part, the Israeli Channel 13 reported that Israel would send messages via UNIFIL to Lebanon to calm the situation.

A missile fell in Israel

Three security sources told Reuters that at least one missile was fired from southern Lebanon towards Israel.

The Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent also reported that two shells were fired by Israel towards southern Lebanon, after a missile was fired from Kafr Shuba.

She said that the shells fell in uninhabited areas in southern Lebanon and there were no losses, noting that the Lebanese army deployed in the areas where the rockets fell to find out their source.

She added that the Lebanese army confirmed that no missiles were fired from the south today.

No one has claimed responsibility

No party has claimed responsibility for firing the two missiles, and there has been no comment yet, either from the Lebanese army or the United Nations peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The sources in Lebanon said that one missile fell near the Lebanese border village of Wazzani, while the other landed near the village of Ghajar, located on the Lebanese-Israeli border.

The firing of the two missiles came after Israel ended one of its largest military operations in years in the occupied West Bank, in the Jenin refugee camp.

Security alert

Earlier last month, the Lebanese-Israeli border witnessed a security alert, as the Lebanese army forces deployed to the border area in Kafr Shuba, in the south of the country, after the Israeli forces dispersed the demonstrators.

Lebanese media at the time referred to a “great alert” for the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces in the south of the country, after the Israeli forces threw gas bombs at the protesters.
