Train traffic to and from the Northern Netherlands will remain at a standstill for the time being due to the considerable damage caused by storm Poly there. This is reported by the NS and ProRail. Before NS trains can run to and from the affected northern parts of the country again, the damage must first be repaired. It is unclear how long that will take.
In parts of North Holland and Utrecht, train traffic will be gradually restarted in the coming hours.
According to a spokesman for the GVB, a number of bus lines will run through Amsterdam again from Wednesday afternoon. It concerns lines 18, 22, 35, 37, 65 and 369. Almost all of them are experiencing delays. All metros will also run according to the timetable again.
A shuttle bus is used for tram 26, which goes from Amsterdam Central to IJburg. No trams have been running since Wednesday morning. That will not change on Wednesday evening. Overhead lines of trams had come loose all over the city. Because some trams have no power, they stop in the middle of the road. There are currently about 65 trams in the city.
The spokesman for the GVB reports that the repair work will continue all night. According to the GVB, it is still uncertain how the trams will start on Thursday.
“It is unbelievable how hard the people of the engineering and repair work have worked today,” says the spokesman. “And they are far from finished. Kudos to my colleagues.”
Travelers are advised to keep an eye on the GVB app or website.
