President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated Ewer Airport in Asmat Regency, South Papua. Jokowi is grateful to be able to inaugurate the airport.
“Thank God we pray for the presence of God Almighty, the Ewer airport in Asmat Regency, South Papua Province, which has been built today, is ready to be used to serve the transportation needs of the community,” said Jokowi as broadcast on the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday (6/7/ 2023).
Jokowi said the inauguration of Ewer Airport was very important. Because it concerns connectivity and connectedness between regions in Papua.

“It will speed up the mobility of people and goods and will open isolation and speed up logistical shipments,” Jokowi said.
Jokowi receives reports every week that there will be flights from other areas in Papua. Two of them, there were 2 flights from Timika and 4 flights from Merauke.
“This will open Asmat tourism to increase,” he added.
At the inauguration, Jokowi was also accompanied by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, and Acting Governor of South Papua, Apolo Safanpo.
