At the airport, the Cartagena Metropolitan Police paid a heartfelt tribute to the uniformed man, born and raised in the Paseo Bolívar neighborhood, and who had been at the Petroleum Station for eight months, where the crime occurred at 6 in the morning, when Samir was about to give up his turn.

That same day, in the municipality of Zulia (Norte de Santander), patrolmen Renzo García and Gerson Cuevas Pineda, of the Cúcuta Metropolitan Police, were murdered while they were having breakfast.

The body of the man from Cartagena was taken to Cúcuta and from there they put him on a plane to be transferred to Cartagena. Outside the airport, his brothers and his father Francisco Vega were waiting for him, as well as members of the institution. The coffin was covered with a Colombian flag and transferred with honors to a vehicle that took him to the place where he will be accompanied by his relatives until the day of his burial, which would be tomorrow.
