Banca Popolare di Bari changes its name to Bdmbanca: A step towards profitability and growth

BARI – Banca Popolare di Bari changes its name. This was decided by the board of directors, opting for the acronym Bdmbanca, which stands for Banca del Mezzogiorno, thus following the mission of Medio Credito Centrale.

The new name marks a break with the past and marks a further step towards the return to profitability of a credit institution which now seems to have put the problems of the past behind it.

On June 12, the Apulian entrepreneur Pasquale Casillo was appointed to lead the board of directors, supported in the new board by Simonetta Acri; Luciano Filippo Camagni; Cristiano Carrus (confirmed managing director); Elena DeGennaro; Grace Dicuonzo; Francescopaolo Ranieri. Mediocredito Centrale imagines Banca Popolare di Bari (indeed, Bdmbanca) healthy and transparent from now to the future, as emerges in the industrial plan for the next three years of the group linked to Invitalia. A plan that envisages growth of over 11 billion euros by 2024, but at the same time acceleration of the so-called derisking process, i.e. the reduction of the most risky loans reaching a ratio of 5.9 per cent, always in the same period. The last word on the change of the bank’s name will be up to the shareholders’ meeting which will meet by the end of July.
