England U21 – Israel U21 3-0
On Wednesday night, England U21 lived up to expectations and beat Israel 3-0 in the semi-finals of the U21 European Championship in Georgia and Romania.
England were high expectations, and had also beaten Israel in the group stage, but have struggled to make it in these championships in recent years. The last time they were in a final was in Sweden in 2009, when they lost to a Germany where six players five years later helped win the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
In the 2009 England team, James Milner played on the right wing – so it’s been a while.
Jones was the best on the field
Curtis Jones started the match centrally in midfield with number 17 on his back. He played 88 minutes before being replaced by City player Tommy Doyle. Jones played in a deeper midfield role and did his stuff very well. So good that he was given the best man award in the semi-finals.
Harvey Elliott was back after missing the quarter-finals for planned family reasons. He started the game on the bench but came on and played the last 16 minutes as he replaced Arsenal player Emile Smith-Rowe.
Saturday at 18.00 is the final at the Adjarabet Arena in Georgia. The final will be shown on NRK2, NRKTV and VGTV+.
We will find out who will be the opponent tonight. Then Spain U21 plays against Ukraine U21.
