At the age where some are in 6th grade, he had his baccalaureate on Tuesday with a “good” mention: Adam, 12 years and 10 months, is the youngest bachelor of the Versailles academy and of the rest of France this year . He is not, however, the record holder in this area since a boy of 11 years and 7 months had won his baccalaureate in 2019.
What is Adam going to do with his degree? He doesn’t know. “No school I applied for accepted me,” he told the Parisian. “But maybe I will have more luck in the second phase of admission with the ranking of wishes. I applied for an information and communication license in number 1”, he continues.
His parents, a taxi driver and a pharmacist, say they are “happy” with their son’s success, but surprised by the results of Parcoursup.
84% accepted before resit
Unveiled on Tuesday, the results of the 2023 baccalaureate revealed a slight drop in the number of admissions: “we are at 84.9% admitted to the baccalaureate all series combined” before the remedial tests, “against 86.1% l last year”, announced the Minister of National Education Pap Ndiaye.
Last year, at the end of the remedial tests, the success rate for the baccalaureate was 91% all sectors combined (compared to 95% in 2020, and 85.7% ten years before, in 2011). For the general baccalaureate alone, the success rate was 96% last year. It was 90.4% on the technological track and 82.2% on the professional track.
The catch-up events started on Wednesday, and are held until Friday.
