The People’s Party of Joseph Ignatius Landaluce will chain his fourth consecutive term at the helm of the city of Algeciras. And besides, he will rule alone after recover the absolute majority that he missed in the municipal elections of 2019 when he obtained 16 of the 27 councilors of the future Corporation.
A victory that the elected mayor has valued in a massive party, held in a restaurant in Plaza Neda, as the result of constant work for the city. Right at the end of the scrutiny, Landaluce has promised to continue working to achieve “the best Algeciras” in the next four years with the support of other administrations such as the Junta de Andalucía.
He PP of Landaluce will have as opposition over the next four years to only two formations, PSOE and Vox. The socialists of Rocío Arrabal have obtained seven councilorsone less than in the outgoing plenary, while Vox will double its representation, going from two to four councilors thanks to an increase in votes of almost 60%.
The left-wing block, on the other hand, will no longer be represented in the City Council as a result of a collapse in supports for the three candidacies presented in the absence of an agreement for a great electoral coalition: For the people, Adelante Andalucía and Podemos.
With 100% scrutiny, the PP Has obtained 22,873 votes53.14%, and 16 councilors so that it has practically maintained its 2019 result and, in addition, captured the 3,000 votes that Ciudadanos obtained in the previous elections.
The PSOE has achieved 9,542 votesequivalent to 22.17% and seven councilors (one less than currently), while Vox has added 5,708 votes (13.26%) and four councilors (two more).
The confluence of lefts (For the people) of andres del rioformed by Izquierda Unida, Más País and Iniciativa por el Pueblo Andaluz, has been on the verge of obtaining a councilor, with 2,052 votes and the 4.76% of the votes.
The rest of the formations have remained far from the 5% necessary to achieve representation. Adelante Andalucía, by Rafael Fenoy, has obtained 1,420 votes, 3.29%; We can only 481 votes, 1.11%, while the Andalusian Party only added 320 votes (0.74%). Participation was 47.97%, with 43,547 voters.

We transfer to the citizens that the PP is going to have us supervising the work. That is where the citizens will find us,” he pointed out.
The head of the Vox list, Eva Pozas, has valued the good results with more than a 60% increase in votes compared to the data of 2019 (with 5,708 by 3,555). “We are grateful to the people of Algeciras. We are going to give more war than ever,” he pointed out.

Election day took place with a single notable incident. Forward Andalusia denounced in the first minutes of the day that missing ballots of its formation in two electoral colleges in Algeciras, in the voting precincts of The Bajadilla y orchard of the crossfor which they claimed the shutdown of the votes.
The Consistory attributed what happened to an error in the distribution of the ballots that was corrected at 9:15, so that from that moment the day progressed without major consequences.
