When meeting by chance on the street, not everyone will be able to draw the little Forrest Gump in the currently 38-year-old Michael Humphrey – only the biggest fans of the film could do that. The actor has grown up, he is 38 years old and he works for the “Coca-Cola” company, writes the media “Page Six”.

Director Robert Zemeck’s 1994 film will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary next year. Its main character, Tom Hanks, continues his brilliant stage career, but Michael Humphrey, who played Gump in the film as a child, has not continued his acting career. He has filmed here and there, however, filming in “Forest Gamp” is considered to be the peak of his career.

Humphrey was born in Mississippi and at the age of eight entered a “casting” where the producers were looking for a boy with a “peculiar demeanor” for the character of little Gump. The team was impressed by the boy’s southern accent, while Tom Hanks later said in interviews that he was inspired by Humphrey’s quirky charm, peculiar speech and mannerisms for his role.
After graduating from high school, Humphrey joined the US Army. He was deployed in Germany, but also stayed in Iraq for a year and a half. In 2008, he finished his service. Later, the guy graduated from the University of North Alabama and started working at various jobs. Humphrey worked as an online teacher during the Covid-19 pandemic, but now earns money at Coca-Cola.
Currently, Humphrey leads a quiet life in Portland, Oregon, he has a beloved woman, no children.
In 2019, in an interview with “The Sun”, Humphrey expressed his relief that he did not become a Hollywood star, nor did he ever want to become a children’s film actor. “Back then, my parents let me decide what I wanted to do next, didn’t push me to film. It was good because I never thought of Hollywood as something glamorous, rather the opposite. I liked living in my house, I liked to have fun with my friends and I liked to go to school,” said the actor, who is now 38 years old.
Although almost 30 years have passed since the film, Humphrey still tends to ask for autographs, and he himself does not shy away from his old fame in his social media accounts. A few years ago, Humphrey posted a picture of himself with his girlfriend and actress Sally Field, who played little Gump’s mom on “Forrest Gump.”
