Anything can happen when we drive on the road. If the problem occurs on a normal road, it is still possible to be assisted by other road users. But if it happens on the toll road, the driver can be confused. No need to panic, if you experience problems such as a car breaking down while on the toll road, you can ask for help from an official towing service.
How much does it cost to tow a car on the toll road? Generally, toll road operators provide tow vehicles free of charge. Quoting the Instagram page of the Ministry of PUPR’s Toll Road Management Agency (BPJT), free towing vehicles on toll roads are one of the services that are on standby 24 hours.

Authorized cranes on toll roads are given according to the type of toll road location. For inner-city toll roads, assistance will be towed to the nearest repair shop. Meanwhile for out-of-town toll roads, vehicles are towed to the nearest toll exit. Even so, motorists can apply for additional towing services outside the destination at an additional fee set by each toll road manager.
Jasa Marga, for example, sets an initial tariff of IDR 100,000 and a tariff per kilometer of IDR 8,000 for class I vehicles. For non-class I vehicles, an initial tariff of IDR 135,000 and a tariff per kilometer of IDR 10,000 will be charged. It should be noted, the fare can be different on toll roads of Jasa Marga Subsidiaries and non-Jasa Marga Companies.
Jasa Marga also provides free towing services with the ultimate goal of towing as follows:
1. Nearest toll gate
2. Pool waist
3. Other places within a radius of 1 kilometer from the nearest toll road exit access
If your vehicle has a problem on the toll road, later the officer will help identify the condition of the vehicle and if possible carry out minor car repairs or if necessary an official towing facility will assist you to the nearest toll gate or to the nearest repair shop. If you want to use additional towing services, don’t forget to ask the cost first.
Motorists can also call the toll road call center that is being stopped at the vehicle’s stopping point to avoid illegal levies (Pungli) from unscrupulous officers.
