A weekend with excellent staging.
Three magnificent productions, as well as two body training and voice management workshops, was the program of a compact theater season in Monterrey, in an agenda organized by the State Government through the Secretary of Culture of Nuevo León , in coordination with the National Theater Company.
Over the weekend, two of the venues of the theater infrastructure in Nuevo León, the Theater of the Center for the Arts and the Teatro de la Ciudad received more than 1,400 spectators who had free access to the performances.
Additionally, students and theater professionals in the entity participated in the specialized workshops that added more than 16 hours of training, also free of charge and with actors of the stature of Luisa Huertas, who also starred in the staging of the Spanish piece ” Dictionary”.
At the end of the functions, the actress Aurora Cano, who directs the CNT and Melissa Segura, head of Culture of Nuevo León, thanked the public for their enthusiastic presence.
“Thanks to the linkage and cooperation agreements derived from the collaboration agreement with the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, INBAL, we maintain the commitment to promote artistic and cultural development; For this reason, we appreciate the presence in Nuevo León of the magnificent casts of the National Theater Company”, said Segura Guerrero.
This collaboration represents a joint commitment to promote and enrich the performing arts in our territory, laying the foundations for the flourishing and development of artistic talent in the Country.
In addition to “The dictionary”, the season included the works “Conference on the rain”, written by Juan Villoro and “Violencia”, whose author is Valeria Loera.
The three pieces captivated the attendees, in an audience that included directors and talents from the Nuevo León theater guild, as well as various cultural promoters from different levels of the public and private sectors.
Theater in particular provides a window into new realities and challenges people to question their perspectives.
That is why the strengthening and promotion of the performing arts are fundamental for the integral development of the community.
The National Theater Company has been vital for theatrical history in Mexico.
Faithful to its primary objectives, which are to promote our national dramaturgy and bring authors from other latitudes to the scene, trying to establish an enriching dialogue between the proposals and scope of the creators.
As of 2008, the year of its restructuring under the artistic direction of Luis de Tavira, it has a stable cast made up of 50 actors and actresses.
Dedicated to the creation of a repertoire, the National Theater Company has premiered more than 50 productions that belong to four categories –Universal Heritage of Theater, New Theatricalities, Mexican Theater and Actor Laboratory– that articulate a creative discourse of its identity and bring to the stages of Mexico works that are inscribed in diversity, balance and excellence.
The Secretary of Culture of Nuevo León extended its gratitude for the support received to have this theatrical season in Nuevo León by the team of the National Theater Company, the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, the Hellenic Cultural Center and the Secretary of Federal Culture, as well as Conarte and his team.
