Oriane Jean-François, the great absentee

Midfielder Oriane Jean-François, 21, injured, will not participate in the Women’s World Cup. The package of the young player with three selections is explained by an embarrassment felt for several weeks in the adductors, said a source close to the player.

On Twitter, the promising Paris Saint-Germain midfielder confirmed the injury and spoke of a “very difficult to take” choice. With coach Hervé Renard and the medical staff, “we made this decision in the interest of everyone, with upcoming deadlines such as the Olympic Games” in Paris in 2024.

The disappointment of Aïssatou Tounkara

Despite his status as a reservist, Aïssatou Tounkara, who certainly serves as a manager for the Blues, with 39 selections, was not selected. In question, a lack of playing time at Manchester United. At the April meeting, the last before the list for the World Cup, the 28-year-old player was already not in the group.

“She knows the data perfectly. It’s up to her to push the door to be part of the 23 by expressing her athletic qualities to demonstrate that she can take the place of another in the same position, “explained the coach on June 6.

On Twitter, Tounkara reacted without expressing the slightest bitterness. “It’s a disappointment for me, but I thank the staff for giving me the opportunity to be part of this group. Girls, I’ll be your number one fan, have fun and rock it. »
