Sreenijin denied the statement that Sreenijin had paid Rs. 1.5 crore to the filmmaker and that he had been summoned for questioning in connection with it. He added that he had received the notice in connection with the assessment and had come to serve it.
He had bought Rs 65 lakh from the film producer in 2015. It was bought as a loan after some issues related to income tax came up. That money has been repaid in 2022. No other transaction has taken place. He added that this has been mentioned in the election documents.
In the month of December, the Income Tax Department raided the houses of leading actors and producers. After discovering the illegal transactions, most of them paid the tax. It is reported that the financial transactions made by a producer, his statement and the documents obtained from there prompted the Income Tax Department to investigate Srinijin as well.
When the records of these financial transactions were checked, the Income Tax Department got the information that Srinijin had paid about one and a half crore rupees to this producer and received back about three and a half crore. Such statements were received by the department.
