JetBlue Launches New Transatlantic Service from Paris CDG to New York

It was greeted by a very facetious “Statue of Liberty” (a person in disguise) and draped with the stars and stripes, that the passengers of the inaugural Paris CDG-New York flight checked in at terminal 2B to cross the Atlantic on Friday June 30, 2023. JetBlue’s new daily transatlantic service adds to the two services to London Gatwick and London Heathrow and comes a few weeks before the opening of a new daily route between Amsterdam and New York on August 29, before the opening of a Paris CDG-Boston link which should arrive in 2024.

A mini-suite in business class

The flights are operated by Airbus A321LR (Long Range) with a capacity of 138 seats configured in two-class: 114 seats in Core class (economy) and 24 seats in “Transatlantic Mint” class (business class), which has mini-suites equipped with armchairs that transform into totally flat beds and a sliding door, and which also include seats offering 30% more space in the first row. Note that French passengers benefit from a return call rate in Core class at 399 euros, and 1,599 euros in Mint class.

JetBlue sees even further

“At the moment, we are targeting the most important markets in Europe,” explains Robin Hayes, CEO of JetBlue. “We currently have a total of 7 Airbus A321LRs. We are going to receive two more this year and then we will have another 17 aircraft in delivery. But the delivery times have been extended and we are a little constrained”. The JetBlue boss does not rule out opening other destinations in Europe and possibly connections to major French provincial cities, even if he says he is “still too early to talk about it”. JetBlue also has Airbus A321XLRs on order, which should allow it to travel even further afield. “The Airbus A321XLR allows flight times of 60 additional minutes compared to the A321LR, which should allow us to target destinations in Central Europe”, Robin Hayes specifies.
