Just around 05:00 on the night of Tuesday, the police were notified that a man in his 20s had illegally entered an excavator in the center of Tromsø.
The man had, in an unknown way, started the machine and driven it between two buildings, with subsequent material damage to the buildings.
– We haven’t got hold of the contractor yet, and the report hasn’t been finished, so it’s difficult for me to comment on the extent of the damage, but the buildings are standing, says operations manager Rune Nilsen in the Troms police district.
The police got hold of the man and secured traces last night. They suspect the man was under the influence of drugs and had blood samples taken, before reporting him and dismissing him.
– Then he must answer for what he has done last night later, says Nilsen.
