Elina Svitolina began her performance at the Wimbledon tournament with a victory. In the opening match, the Ukrainian defeated the eminent Venus Williams, who, however, currently occupies only 558th place in the WTA rankings. The match lasted almost an hour and a half and ended with the victory of Svitolina – 6:4, 6:3.
Belgian Elise Mertens (28th WTA number) will be Svitolina’s next opponent.
