Mauricio Pochettino spoke to club media on Monday as part of his arrival at Chelsea. The Argentinian took the opportunity to express his joy at having joined London.
Pochettino said: “For me it is a pleasure and an honor to be involved in Chelsea. So it was easy for us to make the decision to come here,” he said.
He continues: “We are very happy to be able to start today in Cobham, on the training ground, and to meet the people and the team. It’s exciting for us and what we want is to bring happiness back to this great football club. We are going to work hard, play in a way that the fans can enjoy the football, and winning is Chelsea’s story.
“I think it’s important and it’s a winning culture. Over the past 10, 12, 15 years, Chelsea have been the greatest team in England. I know the Premier League and the culture of Chelsea very well. I think our supporters are excited to try to win again. We are delighted to work with a very young team,” concluded Pochettino.
Pochettino’s tenure at Chelsea officially started on Monday, July 3, with the Argentine overseeing pre-season training ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. The Blues will be looking to regain the Champions League and win trophies next season, after a turbulent year under their new American owners.
