In the process, the driver crashed into a St. Clair Shores patrol car near Little Mack Avenue and 10 Mile Road, injuring an officer inside.
The injured officer was treated for their injuries and later discharged. The driver of the Impala actively resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody at the crash scene. He was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
As of noon on Monday, Wynter Smith has not been located. Both Lansing and St. Clair Shores police departments are continuing their investigation into her disappearance.
