The source code of the original Far Cry game, released in 2004 by Crytek and Ubisoft, has just been released on the internet. From the Archive.org website, and which was, however, replicated on other portals, the source code of the original Far Cry game was fully disclosed.
The user who leaked the contents published the essential source code files, and although the assets of the same were not made available, several users confirm that the code appears to work correctly when using the contents of the final versions of Far Cry.
So far, it is still unknown who published the source code, and Ubisoft has not left any information about the leak either. Despite the title being from 2004, the source code is fundamental to its creation, and is still owned by Ubisoft.
It should be remembered that Far Cry was created with the first generation of the CryEngine graphics engine, and at the time, it was considered one of the best FPS titles to arrive exclusively for PCs. In part, that was because CryEngine provided a lot of graphical detail and created realistic environments for the outdoor height.
Eventually Ubisoft would acquire ownership of Far Cry from Crytek, having maintained the saga for years to come. In turn, Crytek would develop Crysis with EA.
