Munich – FC Bayern fans can look forward to Raphael Guerreiro in the new season. The left-back, who can also play in midfield, comes to Munich from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. Bayern newcomer Guerreiro reveals language problems after the change
Guerreiro has three children with his wife Marrion. Ana will be seven in August and has two brothers. Guerreiro’s son Sacha is eight and his third child is three.
“You speak German, my son too. When we got there, he said, ‘They don’t speak the same German as me,'” Guerreiro revealed with a laugh. The 29-year-old apparently alludes to the Bavarian dialect in the state capital. While Guerreiro and his son still have to adjust their language skills in their new environment, there shouldn’t be any teething problems on the football field. This is mainly due to FCB coach Thomas Tuchel.

Guerreiro played under Tuchel in Dortmund in the 2016/17 season and looks back fondly on the time together, now both are reunited at FC Bayern. “I remember a lot of moments with him, it was only a year but we won the cup together,” enthused Guerreiro, who didn’t have to think twice about moving to Munich. “When he called me, I immediately wanted to play for him again.”
To his surprise, Tuchel often used the left-back in midfield. “I learned a lot about the position from him,” explained Guerreiro, who also found the experience in the new role to be a great help as a left-back in interaction with the midfielders. “My style of football is to think about positional play and freewheeling behavior, that’s because of him.” With Joao Cancelo, who can also play on the left, FC Bayern has now said goodbye to a compatriot Guerreiros.
