1 IN CUSTODY AFTER STANDOFF IN MINNEAPOLIS’ COMO NEIGHBORHOOD
MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police have apprehended a man following a standoff incident in the Como Neighborhood on Sunday. The incident began when officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of Weeks Avenue Southeast around 3 p.m.
Upon arrival, police discovered a man in his 30s inside a residence, periodically firing a gun through the windows. As a precautionary measure, officers established a perimeter and evacuated nearby residents.
After some time, the man voluntarily exited the residence and was taken into custody without any further incident. He was the sole occupant of the residence at the time.
The suspect was subsequently transported to Hennepin Healthcare for a medical evaluation and is expected to face assault charges upon booking at the Hennepin County Jail, according to the police.
During a search of the home, authorities recovered a firearm. It is important to note that no officers discharged their weapons during the standoff.
