2 – A cyclorail in Nord-Touraine

How about driving on the rails yourself? What’s more, by the strength of your feet? This is what the Château-la-Vallière cyclorail offers you. The circuit was extended in 2022 and is now nearly 7km long! It is not open every day but very regularly (days available on the site). The departure takes place behind the station of Château-la-Vallière and the access is made by the ball game of fort, rue des Planteurs. Signage is provided.

3 – The Saint-Pierre-des-Corps loco

In a shed in the Grands Mortiers area, steam locomotive 231 E 41 is being gradually renovated in the hope of making it whistle again one day. 4 – The Rillé steam train

Here too it is the result of a restoration of old railway equipment by volunteers in order to offer a tourist circuit around the lake, in the Chinonais. It is very pleasant because you are at the edge of the water and at the same time you cross the woods. There is a picnic area for having lunch, games for children… Please note: departure days are limited in 2023 (Sundays in July + 14 and 15, every day from August 1 to 15 then every Sunday until the end of September). 5 – The Safari Train

6 – Small trains on wheels

These are less picturesque, but for passing tourists, taking them is often the right way to discover a city at a glance with the few historical explanations that go well. In Tours, the departure is in front of the Vinci and the Tourist Office. A circuit is also organized in Amboise and a 3rd in Loches.
