Australia has become the first country in the world to legalize ecstasy for patients suffering from depression or post-traumatic stress disorder.
And from Saturday onwards, psychiatrists in Australia will be able to dispense doses of the drug “MDMA”, also known as “ecstasy”, to their patients, according to the British “Sky News” network.
Ecstasy is also called “ecstasy” for its ability to increase feelings of euphoria and hallucinations, but it leaves devastating effects, especially in overdose, such as fainting, panic attacks, and a dangerous rise in body temperature.
Doctors can also give psilocybin to people with treatment-resistant depression.
And the medical authorities in Australia included these two narcotic drugs on the list of permitted drugs after they were banned, in a move that surprised experts in this field, and that was on the first of last February, with the decision to enter into force on the first of this July.
The health authorities justified their decision that there is sufficient evidence of potential benefits for some patients.
