Truck fire in the county
Early on Sunday morning, July 2nd, 2023, at around 2:40 a.m., a witness from County Eckendorf reported hearing a loud bang and now a glow of fire could be seen. The fire brigade, which was immediately alerted, and the Ahrweiler police forces found a burning truck between Eckendorf and Gelsdorf, which was parked on a dirt road, shortly after receiving the message. When firefighters arrived, the vehicle was already engulfed in flames. However, the extinguishing work was carried out and completed quickly and without further incidents. The truck was a four-axle rental vehicle for transporting bulk goods. The truck’s current renter also appeared at the scene of the fire. The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing. The damage is estimated at around 90,000 euros.
