An innovation in road traffic will start in Graz next week. At two intersections, cyclists will have free rein when turning right, even when the light is red, and at another when driving straight ahead. This is made possible by a change in the road traffic regulations, which came into force in October 2022. Vienna pushed ahead and implemented the innovation at ten intersections, and cyclists now have free rides at 170 intersections. Linz followed suit with twelve crossings in January 2023. After a lengthy evaluation phase, Graz is now on board with the first pilot crossings.
