Renowned Artists Exhibit at Hotel Londres de Donostia: A Unique Art Experience in San Sebastián

The Hotel Londres de Donostia once again hosts a hundred works of art from the Madrid gallery Lorenart, faithful to its appointment with San Sebastián. The exhibition will be open to the public until Friday with uninterrupted hours from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and admission is free. The person in charge of the gallery, Ernesto Gutiérrez, states that for another year they have chosen the Gipuzkoan capital as the “starting signal” for their exhibition tour because “it is a way of honoring a group of important clients who have been attending this exhibition for years, u want to give them the opportunity to be the first to see the works”.

The exhibition features a hundred paintings and sculptures by renowned artists such as Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Joaquín Sorolla, Jorge Oteiza, Juan Echevarría, Oscar Domínguez and Adolfo Guiard, among others. Gutiérrez points out that the latter’s works “practically do not go on sale” and that they have been “lucky enough to get a collection of four works by Adolfo Guiard.” In addition, the person in charge of Lorenart adds that two jewels await among the works, since “Guiard’s paintings are usually small and we have managed to get two pieces of approximately one meter: one of a still life and another of the landscape of the Seine ».

Likewise, fans and buyers will also be able to enjoy the presence of lithographs by Menchu Gal, an artist from Iruna who, according to Gutiérrez, “has grown and doubled its prices in the last five years.” Gal herself drew portraits, but what she gained popularity for in the mid-20th century was her painting landscapes, which led her to win the National Painting Award, the first woman to win this award.

The exhibition also contains sculptures by authors such as the famous Jorge Oteiza and Manuel Valdés. It is an exhibition which the person in charge describes as “very varied”, both because of its authors, since two works by Sorolla can be seen next to one by Dalí, and because of the wide range of prices. The cost of each work ranges from six hundred euros to one and a half million euros.

Ernesto Gutiérrez goes back to the beginnings of this relationship between Donostia and the art gallery, explaining the reason for this tradition of starting his particular route of exhibitions in the city: «We have been inaugurating the exhibition in Donostia for more than 25 years because it is always It has been a very crowded city in the summer months by the Spanish public, as well as by foreign tourists of Basque origin who return to the territory during the hot months ».
