National team beats Italy in the final by 4-2 in Catalonia
The Portuguese roller hockey team won the Golden Cat tournament this Sunday, beating Italy 4-2, in the final of the competition included in the preparation for the European 2023, played in Voltregà, Catalonia.
After having lost to the Italians by the same result on Saturday, in the third round of the four-square tournament, Portugal prevailed in the decision with goals from Gonçalo Alves (04, 19 and 31 minutes) and João Rodrigues (49), while Giulio Cocco signed the two goals of the transalpines (23 and 29).
On Friday, the Portuguese team debuted with a thrashing of Catalonia (9-3), before, on Saturday, beating France (4-2) and losing to Italy (4-2).
The Italians secured first place in the group, with nine points, relegating Portugal to second place, with six, with the two teams meeting in today’s final, which culminated in the Portuguese triumph.
In third place was the selection of Catalonia, which today beat France by 7-4.
The European Roller Hockey Championship will take place in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, in Catalonia, with Portugal facing Italy, France and Spain in Group A.
