The Directorate of Youth and Sports in Qalyubia issued an official statement, as the first comment on the death of a first-grade middle school student in a swimming pool at Manti Youth Center, Qalyub Police Station.
Mahmoud Al-Sabrout, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Qalyubia, said that on Thursday, June 29, at 8:30 pm, we were informed of a 13-year-old drowning in the Manta swimming pool of the Shubra Al-Khaimah administration.
And the statement continued: “Immediately, the lifeguard of the swimming pool, registered with the Egyptian Diving and Rescue Federation, registration number 51518, took the child out and took him to Nasser Hospital, and after signing the medical examination, it was found that the child died due to a sharp drop in blood circulation.”
And the Undersecretary indicated in his statement: “Immediately, a committee was formed from legal affairs, the director of the Shubra Youth Department, the director of the center and the engineering department to investigate the incident, to find out the details of the incident until the prosecution’s investigations are completed.”
The Undersecretary added: “Through the following examination, it was found that the swimming pool belongs to an investor and the entire pool is operated by the investor, according to the contract concluded and the investor’s approval of the regulations and controls regulating the work.”
And he continued: “All controls related to operation, code, and instructions received from the Ministry and the Egyptian Diving and Rescue Federation were sent regarding the availability of security and safety factors and the availability of lifeguards, according to the declaration signed by the bathroom manager who is responsible for operation and his knowledge of all the controls and conditions regulating the operation of the swimming pool, and the examination revealed the presence of a lifeguard.” And that he is registered in the records of the Diving and Rescue Federation and has access to his carnet, and the presence of supervisors, trainers and those in charge of work.
He explained: The committee suspended work in the bathroom until the completion of the legal procedures and the investigations of the prosecution, and after the end of the investigations of the prosecution, which stated that the death occurred due to a drop in blood circulation and there is no criminal suspicion.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Qalyubia decided to stop the free periods system in swimming pools, until the operating controls regulating the work are confirmed and a mechanism is put in place to operate the free periods in swimming pools.
