Climate change is a reality that can no longer be denied. The Malagasy see it at their expense today. The winter cold they are enduring today demonstrates this in concrete terms. The temperatures of this month of July will drop regularly below these fateful 5°C, which have become the daily lot of the inhabitants of the highlands. The national meteorological services had announced that in Antsirabe, we would experience freezing cold with a temperature of 2°C. Our fellow citizens must now adapt and prepare to face different climatic conditions.
Necessary adaptation to climate change
It is a climate change on a global scale that we are experiencing today. The observations made by the participants of the various COPs are verified day by day and the recommendations recommended to maintain the global temperature at a suitable level have, alas, not been followed by the polluting countries. The result is visible today and all the inhabitants of the planet suffer the consequences. Temperatures have risen excessively and some regions are experiencing scorching summers. The countries of the northern hemisphere are experiencing gigantic forest fires, causing the destruction of millions of hectares. This tragedy repeats itself every year. It is in this context that the outbreak of devastating hurricanes takes place which no longer spares the developed nations. The United States sees its coasts regularly undergo the deadly assaults of gigantic meteors. The economic consequences are disastrous. Third World countries are also dramatically affected by these climatic disasters. The financial compensation that should be paid to them, as recommended by the COP resolutions, unfortunately is not. Madagascar is one of them. The degradation of its environment is taking place in a dramatic way and we can see the effects in the south of the Big Island. Drought is a scourge there in the face of which the populations are helpless. Madagascar has also changed times and Malagasy people have to get used to supporting very high temperatures in summer and approaching 0°C in winter.
