Alexis Lafrenière’s case has people talking in New York. Information revealed by Arthur Staple of The Athletic in the matinee said Rangers were quietly shopping for the 21-year-old young forward.

As for the young Quebecer, “two league sources tell me that Drury is shopping Alexis Lafrenière without making too much noise. Unless he gets good value in return, it seems more likely that Lafrenière will remain a Rangers player and sign a short-term contract for his next contract,” Staple writes in his text on The Athletic.

A little later, the team’s general manager Chris Drury indicated that he was not looking to trade the young forward.

First overall pick in the 2020 draft, Lafrenière still has no contract in his pocket for next season and is a restricted free agent. Lafrenière has 16 goals and 39 points in 81 games this season, his third in the NHL.
