FC Bayern Munich opens the new Bundesliga season with an away game at SV Werder Bremen. The game will take place on August 18 at 8:30 p.m. and will be broadcast by DAZN and on free TV by Sat.1. This emerges from the schedule of the German Football League (DFL) published on Friday. VfB Stuttgart will start the new season with a home game against VfL Bochum on August 19 or 20, newcomers 1. FC Heidenheim will visit VfL Wolfsburg and SC Freiburg will visit TSG Hoffenheim.
The Bayern challengers from Dortmund and Leipzig start according to the game plan developed with special software with tricky tasks against Cologne and Leverkusen. The explosive Hessen derby at Eintracht Frankfurt is on the agenda for the promoted Darmstadt 98, while 1. FC Heidenheim is playing its first Bundesliga game in the club’s history in Wolfsburg.
Top game in early November
Runner-up Borussia Dortmund will meet Cologne on August 19 or 20 to get the first win for the mission to give the league a new title holder after eleven Munich championships in a row. Champions League participant and cup winner RB Leipzig starts the 61st season of the league away against Bayer Leverkusen. Last year’s sensational fourth-placed Union Berlin welcomes Mainz 05. Matchdays 1 to 8 are scheduled for the week beginning July 10th. After the 16th matchday on December 19th and 20th, the winter break begins, which ends on January 12th, 2024.
The direct duels between the two opponents Bayer Munich and BVB are scheduled for Matchday 10 (November 3-5, 2023) in Dortmund and Matchday 27 (March 30-31, 2024) in Munich. The 34th and last matchday is scheduled for May 18th next year. Like in 2022/2023, BVB has a home game. This time against newly promoted SV Darmstadt 98. In the second division, the new season will start on July 28 (8:30 p.m./Sat.1 and Sky) with a bang between the traditional clubs Hamburger SV and Schalke 04. Hertha BSC, like Schalke, have been relegated to Fortuna Düsseldorf on the weekend of July 29th and 30th. Karlsruher SC starts the new season with an away game at newcomer VfL Osnabrück.
